Maritime Festival on the Bodden Coast

The Hafenfest Ribnitz-Damgarten is one of the Amber City's major summer festivals, held annually on the third weekend of August along the Ribnitz quay. Ribnitz-Damgarten is situated on the Saaler Bodden, a shallow lagoon within the Darß-Zingster Bodden chain — a location that gives the festival its maritime character. The festival is organized from Friday to Sunday by Highlights Event Management.

Watersports as the Centerpiece

The watersports competitions are particularly defining: in the dragon boat races, teams compete against each other, the Bodden swimming challenges swimmers, and with beer paddling and family paddling, humorous and accessible disciplines are also included. Sunday is traditionally dedicated entirely to maritime sports competitions, making the Hafenfest an experience on and by the water.

Music, Market, and Showmen

Spread across the three festival days are live music and dance events, a market, and amusement rides from showmen. The program is aimed at all age groups — from families with children to fans of open-air music. The location directly on the harbor ensures a relaxed, summery atmosphere.

Ribnitz-Damgarten belongs to the district of Vorpommern-Rügen and is known as the "Amber City" — a nod to the long tradition of amber processing. Alongside the Spring Festival and the Shopping Night, the Hafenfest is one of the highlights in the city's cultural year, attracting locals and holidaymakers alike to the Bodden coast.
