Live taping of the RTL2 show with drift shows, racing taxis, and drag race on October 4, 2026
The DEKRA Lausitzring in Schipkau, in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district, is one of Germany's largest racetracks. Since 2000, motorsport events ranging from Touring Car Masters to drag racing have taken place on its 4.255 km Grand Prix track and oval course. The facility is located in southern Brandenburg, about 130 km south of Berlin and 50 km north of Dresden, directly on the A 13 motorway. It is owned by DEKRA and is used primarily for vehicle testing, driver training, and TV productions, in addition to motorsport events.
GRIP – Das Motormagazin is the most-watched car show on German private television. The format has been broadcast every Sunday on RTL2 since 2007, with rotating hosts. The show combines car tests, tuning stories, drag battles, and unusual car stories. The Motor Event at Lausitzring is the brand's annual live event: all GRIP presenters are on-site, performing stunts and actions that will later be broadcast as an episode.
The day starts at 9 AM. Throughout the day, drift shows with professional drifters will take place on the Grand Prix track, producing smoke and sound with their 600+ HP tuned drift cars. In the racing taxi, you can experience high-performance sports cars firsthand – rides with experienced racing drivers, each lasting 2-3 fast laps on the GP track. An air show presents acrobatic flights over the facility. The expo mile brings together performance providers, tuning companies, lifestyle brands, and expert advice. There's a dedicated kids' area with bouncy castles and a quiet zone for parents. The day culminates in the drag race for everyone on the Grand Prix track – anyone can compete with their own car and race on the quarter-mile.
The highlight is meeting the GRIP presenters: meet & greets, autograph sessions, and joint activities. Which presenters will be there exactly will be announced a few weeks before the event on the DEKRA Lausitzring and RTL2 channels. Det Müller and other regular faces from the show are expected.
Continuous TV tapings take place throughout the day – as a visitor, you are part of a real television recording that will be broadcast later in RTL2's Sunday program. If you love the GRIP show on Sunday evenings, you'll have the rare opportunity to be part of a real recording on October 4, 2026. The Lausitzring opens at 9 AM, and the program runs all day with parallel activities on the Grand Prix track and in the outdoor areas.
