About Goldkronach Christmas Market
Goldkronach Christmas Market — edition 2026
With the first Advent, the market square of Goldkronach traditionally opens its stalls for the small but atmospheric Christmas market. The town relies on regionally anchored exhibitors – a large part of the stalls will be run by associations, schools, church communities, and small craft businesses from the Bayreuth district.
The detailed program for 2026 (musical contributions, appearance of the Christkind, special events) will be published by the Goldkronach city marketing in autumn 2026 and can be accessed via the city's event calendar.

Advent Magic in a Franconian Mountain Town
Goldkronach in the Bayreuth district is located on the edge of the Fichtelgebirge in Upper Franconia. The small town looks back on a mining history that dates back to the late Middle Ages and once led Alexander von Humboldt to the region as a mining official. Today, this past shapes the town's identity – visible in restored mining facilities, the Goldkronach Mining Museum, and on the "Humboldt-Kulturpfad" hiking trail.
Market Square and Town Church as a Backdrop
The Goldkronach Christmas Market takes place on the market square, which forms the historic center of the town. Associations, craft businesses, and initiatives from the region operate the stalls – with homemade goods, wood carvings, Christmas specialties, Franconian bratwurst, mulled wine, and children's punch. The scene is that of a classic Franconian Advent market: manageable, regionally rooted, and set against a mountain town backdrop that unfolds its very own charm in winter.
What to Expect
- Arts and crafts stalls and association stands on the market square
- Franconian mulled wine varieties, bratwurst, gingerbread, and Christmas cookies
- Musical contributions from local choirs and music clubs
- Advent atmosphere in a historic gold-mining town in the Fichtelgebirge
Fichtelgebirge Region in Advent
The Advent market in Goldkronach can be well combined with an Advent walk along the Humboldt-Kulturpfad – the former mining facilities are a reminder of why Goldkronach bears its name. The market fits into the dense network of Upper Franconian Advent markets between Bayreuth, Marktredwitz, and the Franconian Forest and is recommended for those seeking the atmosphere of a Franconian town square rather than the routine of large Christmas markets.
