Schützenfest Veer-Burskupper Menslage 2026

Four rural communities, one shooting association

The Veer-Burskupper-Schützenbund unites four (veer in Low German) rural communities from the Menslage region: an example of the form of rural community shooting associations common in Lower Saxony, where several small farming communities jointly preserve their traditions.

Three days in mid-May 2026

The 2026 event runs from Wednesday, May 13th, to Friday, May 15th at the Schützenhalle Veer Burskupper, Nortruper Str. 13A in 49637 Menslage (Artland municipality, postal code Quakenbrück). This places the festival in late spring — a time when the weather is usually mild and vegetation is in full bloom.

Classic shooting festival program

As is customary for rural community shooting festivals in the Artland, the event includes a clear traditional program: bird shooting, election of the king, proclamation of the new royal couple, parade through the rural communities, king's dinner, dance evening with live band, and Frühschoppen (morning pint). Fanfare and pipe bands accompany the traditional elements.

Schützenhalle as the festival center

The Schützenhalle Veer Burskupper is the year-round club center and the main stage during the shooting festival: festival evenings, dance events, king's dinners, and club meetings take place here. The surrounding grounds offer space for festival tent expansion and shooting festival catering.

Menslage — Farming community in the Artland

Menslage belongs to the Artland collective municipality in the northern Osnabrücker Land. The region is characterized by agriculture and is rich in shooting traditions — almost every rural community maintains its own shooting festival. The Schützenfest Veer-Burskupper is an example of this lived farming community spirit.
