A Concert Series on the Bodden Coast

Glowe, a state-recognized Baltic Sea resort on the north coast of Rügen (Vorpommern-Rügen district), lies between the famous chalk cliffs of Jasmund and the narrow sand spit of Schaabe. The small marina at Königshörn offers a unique backdrop: the Bodden lagoon behind the mole, the Wittow peninsula opposite. It is here – on the quay and on the floating PonTon – that the municipality of Glowe has been organizing the "Glower Hafenklänge" for years, a concert series that combines the maritime flair of the Jasmund peninsula with live music.

The Concept: Three Concert Formats

The series alternates between three conceptual formats that make up the program:

• PonTon Concerts – Bands and soloists perform on the floating wooden jetty directly over the water. The audience gathers on the marina quay. Acoustic sets, chamber music, or jazz combos are particularly well-suited to this atmosphere.
• Sundowners – Evening DJ sets at the harbor bar / on the beach. Lounge, chillout, house – perfect for sunset over the Bodden.
• Classical Harbor Performances – Singer-songwriters, blues-rock bands, and acoustic trios perform on the quay against a maritime backdrop.

Artists from the Region and Beyond

Performances are deliberately regional – artists from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Berlin, or Northern Germany shape the program. Examples from previous years: Thomas Putensen Ensemble with their own piano compositions between classical, pop, and poetry; BluesRausch & Co. with handmade blues; the Ukrainian pianist Vitalii Bondar with a classical program; local bands like BluesRausch, Felix Hellwig, or Alex Koop. DJs from the region (MΛVIK, Maik Juch, Laszlo Saxxo) also get their playtime.

Significance for Glowe and Rügen

In a Baltic Sea resort that relies heavily on tourism from the beach, the Hafenklänge create a second pillar: cultural revitalization in the evening, long after the beachgoers have returned to their holiday homes. Free admission makes the concerts accessible to families, hikers, and island guests who happen to stop by in the evening. The organizer is the municipality of Ostseebad Glowe, in organizational cooperation with the Tourist Information Office.
