Eleven-day open-air wine festival with 15+ wines from Germany, Austria, Italy on Candidplatz
The Giesinger Weinfest by Vino Minga is one of Munich's more innovative wine festivals – a format that combines the classic Southern German wine festival tradition with contemporary big-city ease. The venue is Candidplatz in Untergiesing, a densely populated, rather young district south of the Isar river, between Kolumbusplatz, Tegernseer Landstraße, and Auer Mühlbach.
The festival runs for eleven festival days – an unusually long format for a wine festival in Munich. The stands typically open around 4 PM and close around 10 PM, with individual opening times each day. Admission to the festival grounds is free. Only the curated wine tastings (in various time slots daily) require a ticket in the €26–€30 range per person.
The wine selection is deliberately focused – instead of a confusing mass assortment, the organizers offer more than 15 exclusive wines, curated from Germany, Austria, and Italy. The focus is on dry white wines (Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Weißburgunder, Vermentino), rosé from the Lake Garda region and the Pfalz, as well as sparkling wines (Crémant, Prosecco DOCG, Sekt). Each wine is explained by the stand host or sommelier, and many winemakers are personally present on individual days.
The organizer is Vino Minga / Culture Ventures GmbH from Munich – a young event company specializing in contemporary wine festival and wine pop-up formats. The concept deliberately shifts away from the traditional wine village cliché towards a more urban-cool style: standing tables and wooden crates instead of long beer benches, live DJs and acoustic acts instead of brass bands, individual wine glass sizes instead of 0.25 l schoppen glasses.
Vino Minga offers table reservations for groups – e.g., €260 for 10 people with €250 in consumption credit. This makes the wine festival attractive for birthdays, company parties, and larger groups. Outside of reserved tables, it's first-come, first-served at standing tables and seating areas.
Untergiesing is a district that oscillates between tradition and gentrification. Its location on the southern bend of the Isar, away from the tourist hotspots, gives the wine festival its characteristic atmosphere. Unlike the Wiesn, the Giesinger Weinfest is not touristy but is primarily visited by Munich locals. This makes it an authentic neighborhood event with supra-regional appeal.
The Giesinger Weinfest 2026 starts on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, and runs until Saturday, June 13, 2026 – a total of eleven festival days. The stands open daily from 4 PM and close around 10 PM.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Only the curated wine tastings require a ticket: €26–€30 per person, depending on the time slot and program. Table reservations for groups with consumption credit are bookable (e.g., €260 for 10 people with €250 credit).
Detailed program and daily highlights will be published on the event page and updated on Instagram @vinominga.
