Street Food & Music Festival Bochum — the May Day Classic

When the May Day holiday approaches on April 30th, Europaplatz, right by Bochum's main train station, transforms into an international street food mile. The Street Food & Music Festival Bochum brings four days of food truck variety, DJ sets, and festival atmosphere to the heart of the Ruhr area city from April 30th to May 3rd, 2026. The motto: "Eat – Drink – Dance" — and over 20 food trucks from around the world ensure this promise is kept.

World Cuisine from Food Trucks

The culinary offering is the main attraction. At the trucks, visitors will find: juicy burgers with pulled pork or vegetarian patties, Greek souvlaki, Argentinian empanadas, Korean Fried Chicken, BBQ specialties, Asian bowls, Mexican tacos, Italian pasta variations, tapas, and sweet classics like crêpes, donuts, and bubble waffles. Everything is freshly prepared on-site — the open kitchens are part of the experience.

DJ Program — Lounge to Charts

The musical component is hardly inferior to the culinary one. During the day, lounge sounds create a relaxed festival atmosphere — perfect for eating and lingering. In the evenings, festival DJs take over with House, Party, and Chart sets. Confirmed artists in past editions included DJ BYRUSH, DJ Ti Stone, and LUC ANGENEHM — the soundscape turns the food truck event into a true festival.

Bochum — Ruhr Area Heart

The independent city of Bochum, with its 370,000 inhabitants, is located in the center of the Ruhr area (North Rhine-Westphalia). Known for the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, the Schauspielhaus theater, the German Mining Museum, and the musical Starlight Express, the city has a distinct event culture. Europaplatz at the main train station is ideally suited as a central meeting point for festivals of this kind.

They organize the Street Food & Music Festival tour in many German cities — Bochum is one of the regular tour stops. The Bochum event is one of the largest on the tour and has been a popular season opener in the spring for years.
