Garden Festival in a World-Class Park
Park and Palace Branitz in Cottbus are the late masterpiece of Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau (1785–1871) — a landscape architect, travel writer, and one of the most influential designers of European garden art. The park covers around 600 hectares, with the famous earth pyramids (Seepyramide and Landpyramide), the palace, and the Pleasureground at its center. In this setting, the Prince Pückler Museum Foundation hosts the Garden Festival every May — integrated into the tourist profile of Cottbus and Lower Lusatia.
More Than 50 Exhibitors
Over 50 exhibitors set up stalls in the Pleasureground — horticultural businesses and plant breeders from Brandenburg, Saxony, and all over Germany, alongside manufacturers of garden furniture, tools, and accessories, fashion retailers with country-style clothing, florists, artists, ceramicists, and culinary vendors. The Foundation carefully curates the festival: no mass commercialism, but a focus on quality and atmosphere.
Theme 2026: Lucie's 250th Anniversary and Pückler's Garden of Delights
The theme for 2026 is “Inspire, Stroll, Enjoy & Linger,” highlighting two main program focuses: the 250th anniversary of Lucie, Pückler's princess consort and companion, and Pückler's Garden of Delights as a curatorial accent. Additionally, there's the “Garden of the Future” — an exploration of the challenges of climate change for garden art.
Concerts, Sound Gardens, and Accompanying Program
Throughout the three festival days, concerts and sound gardens are held in the park, alongside special guided tours of the palace and Pleasureground, workshops on plant care, pruning, and seasonal planting, and readings about Pückler, his work, and European garden history. The accompanying program attracts as much public interest as the exhibitors' sales activities.
Families and Admission
Admission is €9 for adults; children under 14 have free entry. Opening hours 2026: Friday 12–6 PM, Saturday and Sunday 10 AM–6 PM respectively. Advance ticket sales have officially started and are accessible via the festival website.
