12th Garden Market to kick off the green season on Neustädtischer Markt — April 25th and 26th, 2026 with Sunday shopping
Brandenburg an der Havel, with just under 73,000 inhabitants, is the fourth-largest city in Brandenburg and has been promoting an active city marketing strategy for years. The historic Three-City (Altstadt, Neustadt, Dominsel) offers beautiful stages for city festivals with its market squares and waterways — Neustädtischer Markt in the heart of Neustadt has been the venue for the Garden Market, the city's spring season opener, for years.
The Garden Market will take place for the 12th time in 2026. The Brandenburg City Marketing and Tourism Company (STG) organizes the event together with the city and local specialist businesses. Nurseries, tree nurseries, florists, garden item and home decor dealers from the region and Brandenburg will present their spring assortments on Neustädtischer Markt: perennials, summer flowers, potted plants, herbs, vegetable plants, bonsai, tools, balcony furniture, planters, home textiles. In addition, arts and crafts, jewelry, fashion, and regional specialties — the market is not just a plant market in the narrow sense, but an urban spring festival.
The Garden Market will be opened on Saturday, April 25th at 10 a.m. by Mayor Daniel Keip and STG Managing Director Thomas Krüger — a short ceremonial act on the stage podium. The market is open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday is an official Sunday shopping day — Brandenburg retailers will open their doors, making a city visit a full-day excursion. Exact stage programs and hands-on activities will be communicated by the STG in the weeks before the market.
Brandenburg an der Havel can be reached with the RE 1 train from Berlin Hauptbahnhof in about 50 minutes. From the main train station to Neustädtischer Markt, it's about a 10-minute walk or a short city bus ride. By car: A 2 exit Brandenburg an der Havel. Those who want to combine the market with a city tour have plenty of connecting programs: Dominsel and Cathedral St. Peter and Paul, Industrial Museum (old steel mill), Slavic Village, Havel walk. A perfect family Sunday with plants, city flair, and spring feeling.
The 2026 Garden Market is the twelfth edition of this Brandenburg spring event. The City Marketing and Tourism Company (STG) and the City of Brandenburg an der Havel have confirmed the program — two days of plant market, arts and crafts, and regional specialties at Neustädtischer Markt, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The festive opening on Saturday, April 25th at 10 a.m. will officially kick things off. Exact stage and hands-on program details will be announced by the STG in the weeks before the market.
