Castle Christmas Market Gaildorf — Advent Market with Renaissance Scenery
The Gaildorf Castle Christmas Market has been held annually on the first weekend of Advent in the historic courtyard of the Old Castle Gaildorf for years. The striking 15th-century Renaissance half-timbered castle gives the market its special atmosphere — few Advent markets in Baden-Württemberg can boast such an atmospheric backdrop. The event is organized by the town of Gaildorf's Department of Culture, Tourism, and City Marketing.
Castle Courtyard, Wurmbrandhalle, and Community Center
Three exhibition areas are spread across the market. The castle courtyard itself houses the festively lit market stalls with arts and crafts and food — from wood carvings and jewelry to Advent decorations, mulled wine, punch, and Swabian specialties. In the adjacent Wurmbrandhalle, craftspeople present their works in heated rooms — ideal in cold weather. In the community center, a creative market featuring hobby artists and small workshops opens its doors.
Show Stage, Living Nativity Scene, and St. Nicholas
In the castle courtyard, there is a small show stage where clubs, school choirs, music associations, and dance groups from Gaildorf and the Limpurger Land provide the musical program. A central highlight for families is the living nativity scene with real animals — a local staging of the Christmas story. The traditional visit from St. Nicholas is another highlight for children.
Gaildorf — Town in the Limpurger Land
Gaildorf, with around 12,000 inhabitants, is a small town in the district of Schwäbisch Hall (state of Baden-Württemberg), located in the so-called Limpurger Land between the Swabian-Franconian Forest mountains and the Hohenlohe region. The Old Castle Gaildorf, an imposing Renaissance half-timbered structure, is one of the most striking castles in the region. The Castle Christmas Market uses this historic backdrop for one of the most atmospheric Advent experiences in the Schwäbisch Hall area.

Gaildorf Castle Christmas Market 2026 — 1st Weekend of Advent
On Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 2 PM to 9 PM, and on Sunday, November 29, 2026, from 11 AM to 7 PM, the town of Gaildorf opens the courtyard of the Old Castle for the annual Castle Christmas Market. The striking Renaissance half-timbered castle provides a unique atmosphere for the market, making it one of the most atmospheric Advent settings in Baden-Württemberg.
In the castle courtyard, festively decorated stalls line up — offering everything from arts and crafts and Advent decorations to mulled wine, punch, and Swabian specialties. A show stage provides performance space for clubs, school choirs, and local music groups. In the Wurmbrandhalle and the community center, craftspeople and hobby artists present their works in heated rooms.
