Frühlingsfest Trachtenkapelle Biederbach — Spring Classic
The Musikverein Trachtenkapelle Biederbach e.V. is one of the traditional music associations in the southern Black Forest and is known for its annual Frühlingsfest (Spring Festival). This four-day community festival is a fixed date in the spring calendar for the Emmendingen district and attracts visitors from the entire Elztal valley and the wider region each year. The venue is the Haus der Vereine (House of Associations) am Weihermatten in Biederbach — the community's central event hall, offering space for concerts, festival evenings, and social gatherings.
Four Days of Festivities with Clear Structure
Thursday, May 14th (Ascension Day) opens the festival with a family and children's program and the first festival evening. Friday, May 15th, and Saturday, May 16th, feature classic festival evenings with live music from the Trachtenkapelle and guest bands, catering, and dancing. Sunday, May 17th, is the grand Blasmusiktag (Brass Music Day): Several bands will perform, the traditional Duck Race at 3 PM is a highlight for families, and the Sabiha Harder Dance Groups will present their program at 3:15 PM.
Duck Race — A Community Festival Classic
The Duck Race is a typical South German community festival classic. Small yellow plastic ducks are released into a stream (in Biederbach, the local watercourse) for a downstream race. Whoever bought the fastest duck beforehand wins a prize. The proceeds go to the association's fund — a charming form of fundraising with high entertainment value for children.
Sabiha Harder Dance Groups
The Sabiha Harder Dance Groups are a well-known dance school with roots in the region. Their performances at the Frühlingsfest showcase oriental and folkloric dance forms — a colorful program item that complements the classic Black Forest brass music repertoire.
Biederbach — Black Forest Community in the Elztal Valley
Biederbach is a community of around 1,750 inhabitants in the Emmendingen district (State of Baden-Württemberg, District 08316), located in the Black Forest hinterland east of Waldkirch in the Elztal valley. With its active community landscape — music association, sports clubs, fire department, church communities — Biederbach is a typical example of the intensive club culture in small Black Forest communities.
