Season opener of the funfair season in the Saarpfalz district – with Sunday shopping
When the first warm days arrive in the Saarpfalz district after the long winter and the market square of St. Ingbert fills with colorful lights and rides, the Frühlingsfest is here. It is the first major funfair of the year in Saarland – it traditionally opens the folk festival season in April, which then continues throughout the state.
The festival occupies the entire market square and adjacent streets: approx. 30 rides and stalls are spread across the area. The range includes classics like bumper cars and children's carousels to action-packed roller coaster setups. Showmen from all over the southwestern region travel here – some have been part of the St. Ingbert funfair for generations.
The catering is diverse:
The real highlight for many visitors is the Sunday shopping on April 12, 2026: From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., retailers and restaurants in the St. Ingbert city center open for spring shopping with special offers and themed events. The market square with the funfair becomes the starting point – shoppers can grab a bratwurst in between, take a ride on the bumper cars, and chat with children or family.
With around 35,000 inhabitants, St. Ingbert is the second-largest city in the Saarpfalz district – after Homburg. The city center location of the Frühlingsfest, right in the historic center, makes it a manageable yet atmospheric folk festival. Unlike the large showman events in Saarbrücken, the Frühlingsfest retains its local character.
The St. Ingbert funfair 2026 runs over the weekend of April 10 to 13, with the classic highlight on Sunday, April 12 (1 p.m. to 6 p.m.) in the city center. Stall operations by showmen as usual, stage and lighting on the market square, entertainment program for families.
Free admission. Rides and food purchased on-site.
St. Ingbert is accessible via the A6 (Saarbrücken–Mannheim) and the A8 (Luxembourg–Munich) motorways. By train: St. Ingbert station, from there a few minutes' walk to the market square. Reachable from Saarbrücken main station in approx. 15 minutes.
Multi-storey car parks in the city center (Mittelstadt-Center, Stadtwerke). Due to the central location in the city center: high parking pressure, especially on Sundays with shopping – arrive early.
Admission to the funfair is free. Rides and food are paid for on-site.
Classic family funfair with child-friendly rides and a manageable size.
