St. Ingbert's City Festival with Four Stages Across the City Centre
The Ingobertusfest is more than just a city festival – it's the annual self-affirmation of St. Ingbert, the second-largest city in the Saarpfalz district. Named after Saint Ingobertus, the city's patron saint, whose feast day falls in July, the event invites visitors for two days of music, enjoyment, and encounters every year on the first weekend of July. 2025 marked the 46th edition – the tradition thus dates back to the late 1970s.
The musical heart beats on four stages spread across the pedestrian zone. Each stage has its own character:
Around 90 stallholders transform the pedestrian zone into a two-day festival mile: Saarland's Schwenker, Lyoner specialties, crêpes from nearby France, Vietnamese bowls, burgers, and wood-fired pizza. Plus coffee bars, sparkling wine pavilions, cocktail bars, and the obligatory Bitburger Pils.
While Friday tends to start in the evening and goes late into the night, Saturday afternoon is dedicated to the family program: From 1 PM to 5 PM, the Schmelzer parking lot turns into a play area with bouncy castles, face painting, hands-on activities, and small stage performances.
St. Ingbert is located in the Saarpfalz district in southeastern Saarland, on the border with Rhineland-Palatinate and the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau. The city centre is compact and almost entirely car-free during the festival – perfect for a weekend of culture, street food, and the famous Saarland conviviality.
As every year, the Ingobertusfest 2026 opens on Friday evening at 5 PM and celebrates until late into the night. On Saturday, the stage program starts at noon, and the family program in the Schmelzer parking lot runs from 1 PM to 5 PM.
The city of St. Ingbert (Culture Department), in cooperation with the Rockförderverein and local associations, coordinates the four stages.
The complete lineup with band names and set times will be published at the end of May 2026 on st-ingbert.de. Registration for stallholders and bands runs until spring 2026 via the Culture Department ([email protected]).
Free admission, all four stages accessible for free.
By train: St. Ingbert station is just a 5-minute walk from the festival mile – direct connections from Saarbrücken (12 min.), Homburg, Kaiserslautern, and Mannheim. During the festival, the city increases bus services to surrounding districts and neighbouring municipalities. By car: Via the A6 or A8, exit St. Ingbert-Mitte. Parking in the city centre is closed during the festival – use Park-and-Ride at the stadium or at the Rohrbach-Center.
Free admission. Concerts on all four stages are free. Payment at stalls is mostly cash, some accept cards.
Hotels in St. Ingbert are scarce; Saarbrücken (15 min. by train) offers significantly more options. For campers: Motorhome parking at the Saarbrücken exhibition grounds.
