Metal Holiday with Alpine Views
The Forest Metal Open Air Festival is a young, deliberately small metal festival set on a forest site on the outskirts of Bad Wörishofen in the Unterallgäu district. With only 999 strictly limited tickets, the organizer focuses on intimacy, short distances to bands and crew, and a festival atmosphere where camping and concerts are close together. The subtitle 'Metal Holiday in Southern Bavaria' says it all: six nights of camping, four days of concerts, plus Kneipp baths, thermal wellness, and the Alps within an hour's drive.
Line-up and Genres
Over 20 bands spanning the entire metal spectrum are on the program: Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Hard Rock, Black Metal, Metalcore. Confirmed acts for the 2026 edition include Lacrimas Profundere, Pro Pain, Ozzyfied, Frostshock, and Maschinist. More bands will be announced closer to the festival date.
Weekly Schedule
Arrival is possible from Tuesday, with the campsite opening for a week. Wednesday is a Party Day with free entry – a metal band and a metal DJ will perform. The main days with the densest line-up are Thursday to Sunday. Sunday is considered an arrival day in the sense of 'festival end and joint morning pint'.
Bad Wörishofen and the Unterallgäu Region
Bad Wörishofen is the birthplace of Kneipp therapy and one of Germany's most famous spa towns. The festival site is located on the southern edge of town on a forest plot, five minutes from the A96 motorway (Munich–Lindau). Festival-goers can use the Therme Bad Wörishofen thermal baths and Kneipp facilities during the day – a rare combination of a wellness spa town and a camping festival. The organizer is Metalhead Agency from Kaufbeuren, managed by Martin Dorst.
Values and Atmosphere
The festival clearly positions itself against racism, sexism, hate, homophobia, and transphobia. This makes it one of the German metal festivals that explicitly embraces inclusion and an open festival climate as part of its identity – an important point for many visitors seeking a reliable framework between large festivals and underground events.
What to Expect
- 999 strictly limited tickets – Mini-festival instead of a mega-event
- Over 20 bands across Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Hard Rock, Black Metal, and Metalcore
- Six days of camping in a forest setting with Alpine views
- Wednesday as a Free-Entry Party Day
- Therme and Kneipp baths of Bad Wörishofen within reach
- Bavarian Allgäu region with connections to Augsburg, Munich, Lake Constance, and the Tyrolean Alps
