Interdisciplinary Mentoring Festival – 11th Edition with 18 Nominees and six international mentors in radialsystem
Forecast was founded in 2015 in response to a question: How can young artists and cultural practitioners develop beyond traditional educational structures when working on a project that does not yet have a clear form? The answer: a mentoring festival, where renowned practitioners from around the world accompany a small group of nominees and present their projects together publicly at the festival.
Each year, Forecast selects six mentors, who in turn select three projects each from international applications. In 2026, these are artist Keren Cytter (Israel), composer Heinali (Ukraine), sci-fi artist Lucy McRae (Australia), multimedia artist Almagul Menlibayeva (Kazakhstan), author Vidura Bandara Rajapaksa (Sri Lanka), and performance artist Tom Cassani (UK).
The 18 projects are organized into six thematic clusters: 'Playing with Risk', 'Authentic Deception', 'Constructing Delusions', 'Introspective Futurism', 'Unruly Images', and 'The Distant Mirror'. These clusters reflect the curatorial lines of the mentors and form the daily structure of the program. Forecast explicitly understands 'Unfinished Work' as part of the programming – sketches, open processes, and open-ended performances alongside polished presentations.
The main venue is the radialsystem on Holzmarktstraße – a former pumping station on the Spree, now one of Berlin's internationally recognized cultural addresses. With its several halls, foyers, and outdoor areas by the water, it is ideal for a multidisciplinary festival like Forecast.
The 2026 edition is Forecast's eleventh iteration and follows the established format: six mentors with three nominees each, organized into six thematic clusters. The 72 hours of the festival alternate between performances, concerts, film programs, lectures, and open work sessions. Forecast views its program as a mix of 'Finished' and 'Unfinished Work' – polished premieres alongside open-ended sketches.
Following the four festival days, decentralized Public Premieres will take place at other venues – including the Berlinische Galerie and CTM Festival, with whom Forecast traditionally collaborates. This makes the festival a year-round program hub, with its festival week at the radialsystem forming the intensive highlight.
