About Florianstag Freising

The Florianstag is the joint festival day of the fire brigades of the Freising district in honor of their patron saint, Saint Florian. Every year, firefighters from all over the district gather in the cathedral city of Freising to march in a solemn procession through the city center to Freising Cathedral. There they celebrate a high mass in honor of their patron, followed by a vehicle blessing. The District Fire Brigade Day is organized by the Freising District Fire Brigade Association. The Florianstag combines church tradition, fire brigade tradition, and the sense of community of the volunteer brigades into a festive event for the entire region.
