100 Years of Frühjahrsmarkt on the Exe

The Flensburger Frühjahrsmarkt is not just the largest funfair in Schleswig-Holstein — it has been a social ritual of the Fördestadt since 1924. Venue: the Exe, an open space in the Friesischer Berg district, which has become a Kirmes (funfair) three times a year (spring market, summer market, autumn market) for almost a century. Generations of showman families have been represented here for decades, from the Ferris wheel to the shooting gallery.

95 Exhibitors, Three Categories

The 2026 spring edition brings together 95 exhibitors:

• 23 Rides and Shows — including a Ferris wheel, the "Z Coaster", the "X Flight", the classic Break Dancer
• 19 Sales, Game, and Shooting Stalls
• 53 Gastronomic Establishments — Schmalzkuchen (lard cakes), Bratwurst (sausages), Spießbraten (roast pork on a spit), crepes, gingerbread hearts, beer, mulled wine on cold days

2026 Novelties

Every year, the Frühjahrsmarkt introduces novelties to surprise regular visitors. In 2026, these include:

• "Haunted House" — a ghost train spectacle
• "Heroes" — new action ride
• Pirate Slide for children
• 9D Action Cinema — multisensory experience

Program Days and Special Days

Over the 11 days, several focal points are distributed:

• March 27 (Friday): Opening
• March 29: Marvel Superheroes and Princess Day — Spider-Man, Iron Man & Disney Princesses will be on site
• April 2 (Thursday): Family Day with reduced prices on rides
• April 3 (Good Friday): closed — public holiday
• April 5 – 6 (Easter Saturday/Sunday): Easter program with Easter Bunny, face painting

The independent city of Flensburg in the state of Schleswig-Holstein is located directly on the Danish border, on the Flensburg Fjord. The Frühjahrsmarkt is not only Flensburg's social spring highlight but also a cross-border event — many visitors come from Sønderborg, Aabenraa, and the Danish south.
