Culinary harbour festival centered around fish in Bremerhaven's fishing harbour
When Bremerhaven's fishing harbour becomes a stage in April, everything revolves around fish. The Fischparty at the 'Schaufenster Fischereihafen' combines culinary delights, live music, and maritime flair into a festival deeply rooted in the city's history. Along the gourmet mile at the fish quay, stalls offering oysters, matjes, crab dishes, and traditional fish rolls line up.
It all began in 1987 as 'Tag des Fisches'. Over the years, this small event has grown into a major occasion that draws tens of thousands from all over Northern Germany to the fishing harbour. The Fischparty is thus one of the most traditional events celebrating Bremerhaven's maritime heritage.
The centrepiece is the 'Fischbett', where you can marvel at the diversity of different species while experts explain them. The 'Fischkochstudio' hosts multiple cooking shows daily, complemented by lectures on sustainable fishing, species diversity, and fish processing. The museum ship Gera is open for visits, and live music and interactive activities round off the programme.
Bremerhaven has always been a fishing town. The 'Schaufenster Fischereihafen', with its historic halls and restaurants, brings this heritage to life. Once a year, the Fischparty brings this tradition especially close to visitors, celebrating what has shaped Bremerhaven for generations.
The Fischparty 2026 took place on Saturday, April 25th, and Sunday, April 26th, 2026, as the 36th edition at the 'Schaufenster Fischereihafen' in Bremerhaven — Saturday from 11 am to 10 pm, Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, with free admission. The gourmet and tasting mile at the fish quay offered oysters, matjes, crab pans, and classic fish rolls. At the 'Fischbett', experts explained the diversity of different fish species; in the 'Fischkochstudio', six cooking shows per day took place with professional chefs; additionally, expert lectures were held on sustainable fishing, species diversity, and fish processing. The museum ship Gera was open for visits, live acts performed on the harbour stage, and a children's programme rounded off the maritime weekend. As in previous years, the Fischparty attracted numerous guests from all over Northern Germany to Bremerhaven's fishing harbour.
Specific names of participating chefs and live acts were not consistently published in advance by the organiser (Schaufenster Fischereihafen Bremerhaven); the programme blocks were signposted on-site at the fish quay.
