Carnival in the Odenwald Pilgrimage Town

On Sunday, February 1, 2026, the traditional Faschenaachtsumzug (carnival parade) of FG Fideler Aff e.V. will parade through the town center of Walldürn. Over 30 themed floats, walking groups, and music bands from the entire Neckar-Odenwald district and neighboring regions will follow the 'Gaudiwurm' (fun parade) through the alleys of the pilgrimage town. Thousands of spectators line the parade route — the Faschenaachtsumzug is one of Northern Baden's largest carnival parades.

FG Fideler Aff e.V. — Walldürn's Merry Community

The Faschingsgesellschaft Fideler Aff e.V. Walldürn is the central organizer of Walldürn's carnival season. With its prince and princess, council of eleven, guard, and court, it shapes the town's carnival season — from the enthronement on November 11th to Ash Wednesday. The Faschenaachtsumzug is the public highlight of the season and is organized with great commitment from its members and many volunteers.

Themed Floats and Walking Groups

The spectrum of participants ranges from elaborately designed themed floats with political and social satire to walking groups with thematic costumes and music bands and 'Guggenmusik' (brass band) groups. Each carnival season sets its own priorities — federal elections, regional topics, strikes, and cultural phenomena are satirically addressed. This mix of political satire, costume-conscious dressing up, and musical atmosphere is typical of Northern Baden carnival.

Walldürn — Pilgrimage Town in the Odenwald

Walldürn, with around 11,000 inhabitants, is a town in the Neckar-Odenwald district, located in the tri-border area of Hesse, Bavaria, and Baden-Württemberg. It is primarily known as a pilgrimage site: the Basilica of St. George is the destination of the Holy Blood pilgrimage, which takes place annually on the fourth Sunday after Easter and attracts pilgrims from all over Germany.
