Wine as a Bridge Between Two Countries

The Fête du Vin Rehlingen-Siersburg is more than a wine festival — it's an expression of a vibrant German-French town partnership. Rehlingen-Siersburg is friends with the Lorraine town of Bouzonville, and for years, both communities have celebrated a joint wine festival in May, bringing together the culinary traditions of both countries.

What Happens at Rathausvorplatz

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the Rathausvorplatz Rehlingen-Siersburg transforms from 4 PM to 10 PM into a mile of wine and enjoyment. Selected wines from Alsace, Lorraine, the Saarland, the Palatinate, and other growing regions will be presented. Winemakers and dealers will offer tastings and sales — from dry white wines and rosés to elegant reds. Alongside, culinary stands will offer specialties from Germany and France: Quiche Lorraine, Flammkuchen, Tarte Flambée, cheese platters, charcuterie.

Live Music with NOIZE

Starting at 6 PM, the band NOIZE will play live — a fitting musical backdrop for the evening. Before that, children from local kindergartens will present an afternoon participatory program. A bouncy castle and a children's area make the festival attractive for young families too.

The Town Partnership as a Backdrop

The partnership with Bouzonville, a town of 3,700 inhabitants in the Moselle department, has been one of the liveliest on the Saarland-Lorraine border since the 1980s. Student exchanges, sports meetings, community delegations, and the annual wine festival maintain the connection. Those living in Rehlingen-Siersburg often have relatives or friends in Bouzonville and vice versa — the border here is more a memory than a reality.

Rehlingen-Siersburg in the Saarlouis District

Rehlingen-Siersburg is a municipality in the Saarlouis district, in western Saarland, located directly on the Saar River. With just under 15,000 inhabitants, it is one of the larger municipalities in the district, characterized by a mix of industry (Ford plant Saarlouis nearby), agriculture, and tourism. Although the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve is in the Saarpfalz district, the municipality shares its rural, wine-cultural atmosphere with its surroundings.
