Festival week of a traditional music association

The Musikverein Thierhaupten, founded in 1863, is one of the oldest associations in the market town of Thierhaupten in the Augsburg district. With a concert orchestra, youth orchestra, early musical education, and traditional Bavarian music groups, it cultivates a broad musical spectrum. Its festival week is the major social event of the association and village year.

Several days in the large festival tent

The festival week takes place in the large festival tent in Thierhaupten. Over several days in August, it offers a varied program of brass music concerts, entertainment evenings, festival activities, and gastronomy – a real Volksfest (popular festival) with a festival tent atmosphere.

Day of Associations, Children's and Seniors' Afternoon

The program structure includes the opening ceremony with the Day of Associations, where local associations come together, as well as a Children's and Seniors' Afternoon with the music association's youth orchestra. Thus, the festival week consciously appeals to all generations.

Original d'Lechtaler Musikanten and Procession

Musical highlights are the performances of the Original d'Lechtaler Musikanten – both at the opening and during the entertainment evening. The festive conclusion is marked by a church service and procession with the youth orchestra. In this way, the festival week combines hearty brass music, church customs, and village community.

The market town of Thierhaupten is located in the Augsburg district, east of the Lech river, known for the former Benedictine monastery of Thierhaupten.
