Lennep — Bergisches District with Medieval Charm

Lennep is one of the most significant districts of Remscheid and boasts a particularly well-preserved historic old town with a medieval character — half-timbered facades, the Alter Markt as the central square, the town church of St. Bonaventura. Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen was born here in 1845 (Röntgen Museum). Lennep is among the most beautiful historic quarters of the Bergisches Land. The Alter Markt — a square with a fountain and medieval atmosphere — provides the perfect backdrop for the opening and closing dates of the Feierabendmarkt series.

Remscheid — City of Tools in the Bergisches Land

Remscheid (around 110,000 inhabitants) is located in the Bergisches Land (North Rhine-Westphalia) and is known as the city of tools — many German tool brands (Stahlwille, Wera, Gedore) have their roots here. With the districts of Lennep, Lüttringhausen, Hasten, and Alt-Remscheid, the city comprises several historically independent town centers. The Feierabendmarkt series skillfully utilizes this diversity of districts, spreading the program across the entire city.
