Spring Market with Tradition

The Nienburg Spring Market is one of the fixed points in the event calendar of the city on the Weser and, together with the Asparagus Festival, the Scheibenschießen (a traditional shooting event), and the Old Town Festival, forms the quartet of major city festivals. From Thursday to Sunday, the city center transforms into a diverse fairground with classic rides, sweet stalls, food stands, and children's carousels.

Locations in the City Center

Unlike pure fairground events, the Nienburg Spring Market is spread across several locations in the historic city center: Schloßplatz, Lange Straße, and Marktplatz together form the festival grounds. The connection to the city center's shops creates a special atmosphere and makes the market a combination of amusement park and city festival. Since 2007, this city center format has been firmly established and has asserted itself against the trend towards fairground events on the outskirts of the city.

Fireworks on the Weser Riverbank

The highlight of every Spring Market is the big fireworks display on Saturday evening, which is launched from the Weser riverbank and traces its paths over the historic city center. Thousands of visitors gather along the Weser promenade, on the Große Brücke, and in the surrounding streets to watch the multi-minute pyro spectacle. The Weser offers a spectacular reflection, making the fireworks appear twice as impressive.

Family and Amusement Festival

The Spring Market is aimed at all age groups: Toddlers will find classic children's carousels and sweets, teenagers and young adults will find high-thrill rides and fairground classics, and older generations will enjoy the atmosphere of an event that has been a spring tradition in Nienburg for decades. The showman families travel from all over Northern Germany; many have been accompanying the market for generations.
