International Latin American Dance Festival in Trier with Bachata, Kizomba, and Salsa
The Latin American dance scene in Europe has developed into a dense network of festivals, congresses, and dance schools over the last two decades. Bachata (Dominican Republic), Kizomba (Angola, with Portuguese-African roots), and Salsa (Cuban-Puerto Rican) form the core of the scene and are exchanged internationally at festivals. The Treveris Dance Festival has established itself as a permanent fixture in Trier — strategically located for dancers from Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, and France.
The workshop structure is multi-track: workshops are offered for each genre and level (Beginner to Advanced) by internationally renowned trainers — usually 50 to 60 workshops over three days. Show acts run in parallel, where leading dancers present current productions. Social dancing — informal dancing to DJ sets — takes place in the evenings and at night. In the Jack-and-Jill competitions, dance partners are drawn randomly; a format that tests improvisation skills and leading/following competence.
The Europahalle Trier at Viehmarktplatz offers the ideal infrastructure: several workshop rooms, a large main hall for shows and social dancing, and catering services.
The 2026 edition follows the established three-day format. The complete lineup of trainers and DJs, as well as the workshop structure, will be published by the festival on treveris-dance-festival.de. Several hundred dancers are expected from Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, France, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
