Mittelrhein Musik Festival – Tokunbo „Golden Days“ Andernach

Tokunbo (full name Tokunbo Akinro) is one of the most distinguished German-Nigerian voices in soul, jazz, and acoustic singer-songwriter music. She gained fame from the late 1990s as the singer and frontwoman of the band Tok Tok Tok, which celebrated international success with hits like „Walk On“ or cover versions like „Killing Me Softly“ and received several Echo Awards. Since 2014, Tokunbo has been active as a solo artist, developing her own musical signature with albums like „Queendom Come“ and „The Swan“.

With „Golden Days“, Tokunbo presents a program that blends soul, jazz, acoustic singer-songwriter songs, and folkloric elements into a distinctive sound. She is usually accompanied by a small ensemble with guitar, bass, and drums, allowing her voice to take center stage. The program combines her own compositions with selected cover versions from soul classics, the songbook, and contemporary singer-songwriter tradition.

The venue is Burg Namedy in Andernach – a private castle complex in the Namedy district, owned by the von Hohenlohe-Langenburg family for generations. The castle, whose origins date back to the 14th century, is now used for events and offers an extraordinary setting as an open-air location: castle courtyard, historic walls, manicured garden – a concert backdrop with atmosphere.

The concert is part of the 2026 season of the Mittelrhein Musik Festival, which, with venues between Bingen, Koblenz, and Andernach, is one of the most distinguished concert series in the region. The artistic director is Daniel Hope. Those who appreciate soul, jazz, and intimate concert evenings in a special atmosphere should mark this date.
