Festival in the Quarry
The Feel U Free Festival is an insider tip for friends of electronic music. The venue is a former quarry in the Schorgasttal near Wirsberg in the Kulmbach district of Bavaria – an impressive natural backdrop far from urban surroundings. An own little world is created on around 2,500 square meters of open space in the middle of the valley for three days.
80 Hours of Music on Two Stages
On two stages, around 50 to over 60 artists offer about 80 hours of live music – continuously from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening. Musically, the festival moves within the electronic spectrum between 120 and 160+ BPM, from House to Techno. The continuous operation with a night program makes Feel U Free an intense experience for dance enthusiasts.
More Than Just Music
The musical program is complemented by a diverse supporting program:
- Workshops and DIY upcycling offers
- visual installations
- Performances
- Camping in close proximity to the grounds
Thus, the festival sees itself not only as a dance event but as a creative meeting place.
Small, Close to Nature, Communal
With only around 350 guests, Feel U Free deliberately remains manageable. It appeals to a diverse, intergenerational audience and emphasizes accessibility and a nature-connected atmosphere. The festival is also a topic of discussion in Wirsberg – supporters appreciate the special experience in an idyllic setting, while critical voices call for nature conservation. The organizer deliberately enforces strict rules for camping (no generators, no barbecuing, no bulky waste) to keep the impact low.
A Special Festival in Upper Franconia
The Feel U Free Festival shows that electronic music and closeness to nature do not have to be a contradiction. Those looking for an intimate, creative experience in the Schorgasttal away from the big festival factories will find it here in the Kulmbach district.
