Largest Fasching parade in West Middle Franconia by the Mönchswaldfüchse
The Fasching parade in Mitteleschenbach, in the district of Ansbach (Middle Franconia, Bavaria), is the largest Fasching parade in West Middle Franconia. It is organized by the carnival club »Die Mönchswaldfüchse«, which provides a supra-regional stage for the small town on the edge of the Mönchswald for one day.
The procession consists of an impressively long 'dragon' of more than 50 groups with hundreds of participants: festively decorated themed floats, imaginative walking groups, and brass bands. The parade is accompanied, among others, by the Jugendkapelle Gunzenhausen and the Guggenmusik »Molgebach Gugga«. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 spectators line the streets and cheer on clubs and groups – dimensions that are extraordinary for a town of this size.
The parade starts at 2:00 PM at Schleifweg and proceeds via Winkelhaider Straße and Konrad-von-Rechenberg-Straße past the town hall to the Mönchswaldhalle. The carnival festivities continue there and in the pubs after the parade – with music, dancing, and exuberant Fasching spirit.
Behind the spectacle is the commitment of the Mönchswaldfüchse and many local clubs, who spend months building floats and sewing costumes. Tons of candy are thrown into the audience. The parade is the carnival highlight of the year in Mitteleschenbach and a flagship of the Franconian Fasching in the district of Ansbach.
