From July 25th to 26th, 2026, the first MPS weekend in the Bückeburg Palace Gardens will open its gates. Bückeburg is the only MPS venue with two consecutive market weekends – a testament to the special significance of the Bückeburg Spectaculum. Over 200 market stalls, knight tournaments, jugglers, fire-eaters, music groups, and a living camp form the program. Medieval groups like Mr. Hurley & die Pulveraffen perform on stage. Important information: According to the organizers, the 2026 season is the last season of the MPS in its current form. Open Saturday from 11 AM to midnight and Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM.

A Market World in Bückeburg

With the MPS, a market world has been established over the decades that embraces the early and high Middle Ages as well as fantasy motifs and romantic stagings. The Spectaculum is more than a market: it is a living tableau of crafts, music, martial arts, and storytelling that immerses visitors in another era. In Bückeburg, the Spectaculum traditionally takes place on two consecutive weekends in the Palace Gardens – a unique constellation among the German MPS locations.

Program for the First Weekend

The first Bückeburg MPS weekend on July 25th and 26th, 2026, offers the full spectrum of the Spectaculum: knight tournaments with lances and swords, falconry demonstrations, a fire show late in the evening, juggler performances, and music groups on several stages. In the living camp, swordsmen, blacksmiths, spinners, and archers embody their roles; visitors can explore the camp and talk with the participants.

Mr. Hurley & die Pulveraffen

A staple of the musical lineup is the pirate-folk group Mr. Hurley & die Pulveraffen, who regularly fill the largest stages with their energetic performances. Other medieval bands shape the soundscape, from hurdy-gurdy and bagpipes to medieval rock and folk ensembles from Germany and abroad.

Last MPS Season

According to the organizers, 2026 is the last season of the MPS in this form. For many regular visitors and market travelers, this season marks a moving farewell to a format that has shaped the German medieval market scene for decades. Bückeburg, as a double venue, takes on a special symbolic meaning.

MPS Bückeburg WE 1 — edition 2026

The first MPS weekend of 2026 in Bückeburg attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the Palace Gardens on July 25th and 26th. Europe's largest medieval market series transforms the festival grounds into a world of market stalls, living camps, knight tournaments, jugglers, and medieval music. Mr. Hurley & die Pulveraffen shape the musical atmosphere with their performances. According to the organizers, the 2026 season is the last of the MPS in this form – an emotional farewell for many market-goers. Open Saturday from 11 AM to midnight and Sunday from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Bückeburg holds the status of the only MPS location with two consecutive weekends. The first weekend kicks off a two-week market series that makes the town a center of the German medieval market scene.

The organizers, Vehi Mercatus, have been organizing the MPS for decades and have a well-rehearsed team in Bückeburg. Market stalls, stages, living camps, and catering seamlessly integrate.
