Gravel bike tour across the Swabian Jura around Albstadt
Albstadt in the Zollernalb district has been one of Baden-Württemberg's best-known bike destinations for years. With the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup on the Bullentäle Trail, the city has international reputation, but the gravel and forest road network of the Swabian Jura is also predestined for gravel biking. The everve Graveltour Albstadt consistently utilizes this topography: less trail, more long, flowing gravel sections across high plateaus and through valleys.
The event offers three clearly defined route options: 100, 150, and 200 kilometers. The shortest distance is aimed at beginners and leisure riders, the medium distance at ambitious hobby riders, and the 200-kilometer variant at experienced endurance athletes. All three routes start and end at Waldheim Ebingen, a club house and popular excursion destination in the Ebingen district of Albstadt. Aid stations along the way ensure that even the longest loop can be safely completed.
The routes lead over the Albtrauf (the edge of the Swabian Jura), through the juniper heaths around Sigmaringen and Hechingen, past Hohenzollern Castle, through the upper Danube valley, and into the Eyach valley. Those who ride here in midsummer experience a landscape that alternates between Mediterranean-like Jura high plateaus and dense mixed forests – a character that only the Swabian Jura possesses. The elevation gains are challenging, but never brutal: long, steady climbs and equally long descents on easily rideable gravel roads.
Unlike classic marathons, there are no official time rankings for everyone, but the classic tour spirit of the gravel scene: riding together, enjoying the landscape, eating and drinking something at the finish, and exchanging stories. This philosophy – "everve" – stands for "every revolution" and fits the mentality of the gravel community: less competition, more shared adventures. Albstadt Tourism lists the event as a fixed date in the Zollernalb district's bike event calendar for 2026.
