Albstadt, the largest city in the Zollernalb district with almost 45,000 inhabitants, consists of several districts, including Ebingen — the economic and cultural center. The Citymanagement Albstadt organizes the Ebinger Weihnachtszauber annually on the third Advent weekend in the Ebingen city center around Marktstraße, Bürgerturmplatz, and Kurt-Georg-Kiesinger-Platz. In 2026, the festival runs from Friday, December 11th to Sunday, December 13th. Around 60 wooden huts offer mulled wine, bratwurst, handicrafts, and all the classics of a medium-sized Swabian Christmas market — complemented by two special open-air highlights.

Friday, December 11th — Open-Air Cinema on Bürgerturmplatz

The open-air cinema on Friday evening, December 11th, 2026, on Bürgerturmplatz adds a special touch. The German classic "Die Feuerzangenbowle" (1944) starring Heinz Rühmann will be shown — an allusion to the festive drink and a nostalgic film evening that captivates entire families. Patio heaters and candles warm the atmosphere, while mulled wine and Feuerzangenbowle (fittingly) provide inner warmth. The screening starts around 7:00 PM — the perfect start to the Advent weekend.

Saturday, December 12th — Winter City Open Air

Saturday evening is dedicated to the Winter City Open Air on Kurt-Georg-Kiesinger-Platz, Ebingen's central square. Here, the band "Südlich von Stuttgart" plays live — a renowned Swabian cover band that offers its own unique mix of Swabian dialect, German hits, and international classics. Patio heaters, a large marquee roof, a cocktail bar, and mulled wine stands make the open-air evening a feel-good event despite the December cold. The concert starts around 8:00 PM.

Sunday, December 13th — Family Day

Sunday is a classic family day. The huts open at 12:00 PM, with a children's program including a carousel, face painting, craft stations, and a play. In the afternoon, St. Nicholas visits the market and distributes sweets. Local school choirs and the Ebingen brass band provide Advent music. The weekend winds down around 7:00 PM — over the last cups of mulled wine, the year is discussed, the past is reflected upon, and anticipation builds for 2027.

60 Huts, Regional Specialties

The 60 huts are evenly divided between handicrafts and gastronomy. Local artisans showcase wood carvings, felt work, candles, jewelry, and Advent decorations. Caterers from Albstadt and the surrounding area serve bratwurst, Swabian Maultaschen, Schäufele, apple strudel, Black Forest gateau, and fried dough pastries. The Mayor's Hut serves as a meeting point for politics and citizens. A special delicacy is the Albtäler Glühwein, a unique blend with Black Forest berries.
