Harvest Festival and Fire Brigade Anniversary on the Seeplatz
The Erntefest Güldendorf has been the most important annual event in the Frankfurt district since 1998 — a traditional event that combines rural customs, vibrant club culture, and good neighborliness over a weekend. The 29th edition in 2026 has a special occasion: it will be combined with the 120th anniversary of the Güldendorf Volunteer Fire Brigade. Two festivals, one location, two days — from Friday evening, August 29th, to Sunday, August 30th, 2026, residents and guests will gather on the Seeplatz.
The focus of the festival is on harvest customs: the traditional harvest parade with old and new agricultural machinery will move through the village on Sunday at 1:30 PM, followed by the erecting of the harvest crown on the Seeplatz. The harvest crown — woven from the ears of this year's harvest — is a symbolic appreciation for the agricultural work that has shaped the Oderbruch and the region around Frankfurt for centuries.
At the market stalls around the Seeplatz, you will find ceramics from local potteries, honey products from Frankfurt's beekeepers, fresh potatoes from the Oderbruch, wood-fired bread from a mobile oven, and baked goods from the region. In addition, there will be stalls from Güldendorf's clubs — from the sports and local history association to the fire brigade and the children's and youth club.
The Güldendorf Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1906 — making 2026 their 120th birthday. As part of the Erntefest, the brigade will introduce itself in detail: demonstration drills, vehicle exhibition, hands-on activities for children with the fire engine, and the history of the brigade presented on display boards. For many young visitors, meeting the fire engine is the highlight of the weekend.
The festival begins on Friday evening, August 28th, 2026, with a Winzerabend (wine evening) starting at 6 PM — a traditional opening with wine tasting and a cozy atmosphere. Saturday, August 29th, is Family Day starting at noon: games, market stalls, a quiz, and dancing in the evening. Sunday, August 30th, begins with a church service, brunch, and ends with the harvest parade and the harvest crown.
Güldendorf is a district of Frankfurt (Oder) in the Oder-Spree border region, located southwest of the city center, nestled between forest and fields. The village has retained its rural character and, with active clubs and a dedicated local history association, is one of Frankfurt's most vibrant districts. The Erntefest is a flagship of this commitment.
