The traditional spring Volksfest in the market town of Ergolding
The Ergolding Volksfest is one of the most popular spring Volksfeste in the district of Landshut. It takes place every year in May on the festival grounds of the market town of Ergolding and combines the typical elements of a Bavarian Volksfest: a large festival tent, an amusement park with rides and showmen, and a varied supporting program for all generations.
The Heppenheimer family of hosts ensures culinary delights in the festival tent, and the beer is served by the Hohenthann Castle Brewery. In the evenings, brass bands and party bands perform, while during the day, stationary concerts and club performances shape the program. Table reservations in the beer tent are possible.
The traditional highlight is the beer tapping ceremony by the First Mayor during the Day of Clubs, Authorities, and Businesses. On the family days, reduced prices apply to rides, stalls, and in the festival tent. The multi-day program runs from Wednesday to Sunday and offers something for everyone, from stilt walkers to music evenings.
The market town of Ergolding is located immediately north of the city of Landshut in Lower Bavaria. The Volksfest is deeply rooted in the local club and festival culture and is a firm part of the annual customs for many people from Ergolding and the surrounding area.
The 63rd Ergolding Volksfest runs from Wednesday, May 13, to Sunday, May 17, 2026, on the festival grounds in Ergolding. The opening on Wednesday is the Day of Clubs, Authorities, and Businesses with a stationary concert and the tapping of the first barrel of free beer by First Mayor Andreas Strauß. The Heppenheimer family hosts the festival tent, and the Hohenthann Castle Brewery provides the beer service. On Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., reduced prices apply to rides, stalls, and in the festival tent; entertainment includes a stilt-walking clown. The full program will be published on the Volksfest website.
Ergolding is located directly north of Landshut and is accessible via the A92 motorway (Munich–Deggendorf) and by train (Landshut station, then by bus). Parking is available on site at the festival grounds.
Admission to the festival grounds is free; costs are incurred for food, drinks, and rides. Reduced prices apply on family days.
Table reservations in the festival tent can be made through the host family. Further information at www.ergoldinger-volksfest.de or by phone at the Markt Ergolding (0871 76030).
