Advent market in the radiant half-timbered old town — car-free city center with music stage and children's program
Eppingen, with just under 22,000 inhabitants, is one of the most beautiful half-timbered towns in Kraichgau — over 200 listed half-timbered buildings form the historic city center. When the Christmas market opens on the first Saturday of Advent, the city transforms into a radiant Advent world. In 2026, the central market day is Saturday, December 5; the car-free city center becomes a cohesive festive backdrop.
The central venue is the market square with the music stage, where local bands, choirs, and soloists present Advent music. The children's program includes craft activities, fairy tale readings, small games, and entertainment. The stalls offer classic Christmas market fare: roasted almonds, mulled wine, gingerbread, honey products, Christmas baked goods, handicrafts from Kraichgau, and jewelry.
Eppingen is one of the few cities where several districts host their own small Advent markets — offering a wide range of Advent activities over several weekends: Mühlbach Christmas Market on Saturday, November 28, 2026, in the Mühlbach district; the city's main market on December 5, 2026; and the TB-Richen Christmas Market on Sunday, December 13, 2026, in the Richen district. This series of Advent events makes the Advent season in Eppingen a continuous experience.
Eppingen is located in the Heilbronn district in the Kraichgau hilly region, on the border with the city of Heilbronn and the Enzkreis district. The city was an imperial city of the Hohenstaufen dynasty in the Middle Ages — the medieval defensive towers (Pfeifferturm, Hindenburgturm) and the dense half-timbered buildings tell its story. In the state of Baden-Württemberg, Eppingen is among the best-preserved historic small towns. The Christmas market makes the most of this heritage: anyone who walks through the car-free half-timbered old town with its Advent lighting in the evening knows the image that graces the region's postcards.
The city of Eppingen, with its tourism and city marketing department, organizes the 2026 Christmas market in its established format. The main market day is Saturday, December 5, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM in the car-free city center. The stalls are concentrated on the market square and the adjacent alleys — the entire area between the town hall, city church, and Pfeifferturm becomes an Advent experience.
Accompanying this, the districts of Mühlbach and Richen offer their own small markets — the Mühlbach Christmas Market on November 28, 2026 (first Advent Saturday) and the TB-Richen Christmas Market on December 13, 2026 (third Advent Saturday). Those who visit all three will have experienced Advent in Eppingen over three weekends.
