Hamburg's upscale neighborhood festival between Eppendorfer Marktplatz and Eppendorfer Baum
When the Eppendorfer Landstraße becomes a pedestrian zone at the end of May or beginning of June, Hamburg's most bourgeois scene district transforms into an open stage. Between Eppendorfer Marktplatz and Eppendorfer Baum, market stalls, stages, association stands, and play areas line up. The Eppendorfer Landstraßenfest is considered one of Hamburg's more upscale neighborhood festivals – a place where the community celebrates itself without slipping into typical Volksfest clichés.
A dense live program runs on two music stages on both days: bands from the neighborhood, Hamburg pop and soul formations, local singer-songwriters. The stages are traditionally spread across the street, so you can switch from one atmosphere to another as you stroll.
Around two hundred stalls form the traditional residents' flea market, lining the Eppendorfer Landstraße. Only residents of the neighborhood sell here – so you won't find professional assortments, but real basement treasures, well-preserved furniture, designer clothes, and curiosities from Eppendorf apartments.
The highlight for years has been the Saturday waiter's race: the fastest service staff from Eppendorf's gastronomy compete against each other. Two drinks on a tray, a small obstacle course, spectators along the route. The three fastest participants win prizes, and all participating establishments are called out by name on stage.
The children's program has its permanent place on Marie-Jonas-Platz: a carousel, bungee trampoline, bouncy castle, pony rides, and face painting ensure that even the youngest have their own area. Parents can relax in the afternoon while the children romp through the play stations.
Initiatives, sports clubs, church communities, and social institutions from the Hamburg-Nord district present themselves on the association mile. Anyone who has moved to the neighborhood and is looking for connections can find more community life here in two hours than usually in months. The organizer is the Bergmanngruppe; Stadtreinigung Hamburg supports the festival with special operations.
For the upcoming 2026 edition, the Bergmanngruppe announces the familiar concept: two stages with live music, an association mile, a flea market, and the children's program on Marie-Jonas-Platz. The detailed program for 2026 will traditionally be published a few weeks before the festival on the official website.
Registration for flea market stalls and catering participants is handled by the Bergmanngruppe and can be found at bergmanngruppe.de. As in previous years, the campaign Respekt für Eppendorf accompanies the festival, with which the district office promotes respectful coexistence in the neighborhood.
The complete stage program for 2026 will be published shortly before the festival weekend on bergmanngruppe.de.
