Grand Open-Air Concert of Neue Deutsche Härte in the historic Benediktbeuern Monastery grounds
Benediktbeuern Monastery, founded in the 8th century and one of Germany's oldest Benedictine monasteries, lies at the foot of the Benediktenwand mountain between Walchensee and Kochelsee lakes. Today, the Salesians of Don Bosco operate an education and cultural center here (ZUK — Zentrum für Umwelt und Kultur). The Maierhof, a large 18th-century farmyard, has served as an extraordinary open-air stage for several years — a rare venue where tradition and hard sounds meet.
Since the early 2000s, Eisbrecher has been a pillar of Neue Deutsche Härte. The band, fronted by singer Alexander Wesselsky, combines powerful guitar riffs with electronic beats and German lyrics. With albums like »Sturmfahrt«, »Eiszeit«, or »Liebe macht Monster«, they have cultivated a loyal fanbase.
The festival's appeal lies in the contrast: in front of the monastery's Baroque west facade, with a view of the pre-Alps, within a courtyard surrounded by historic farm buildings, a modern stage with lighting and pyrotechnics is erected. The acoustics of the semi-open courtyard amplify the sound; the audience can switch between the live action in front of the stage and breaks under old linden trees. The monastery shop and several catering stands offer Upper Bavarian food and drinks.
On the following day, Sunday, July 19, 2026, Nena will perform her own open-air concert in the same Maierhof. Those who combine both dates will experience two very different facets of German rock and pop history at the same historic location.
The organizer and advance ticket vendors confirm the concert on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in the Maierhof of Don Bosco Monastery Benediktbeuern (Don-Bosco-Straße 1, 83671 Benediktbeuern). Doors open at 4 PM, show starts at 5 PM. Standing room concert.
An Eisbrecher-typical stage show with lighting and pyrotechnic effects is expected, combined with the acoustics of the semi-open monastery courtyard. The band traditionally announces the exact setlist only during the tour; the repertoire includes classics like »Eiszeit«, »Was ist hier los?« or »Die Engel« as well as current tracks from their latest studio albums.
The organizer WoWeBa Live GmbH will publish the exact band schedule a few days before the event on its homepage and the social media channels of the participating bands.
