Eimeldinger Dorffest — Village Tradition in the Rebland
The Eimeldinger Dorffest has been the highlight of the club year for the southern Baden municipality of Eimeldingen in the Markgräflerland for decades. The festival traditionally takes place on the first full September weekend around the Reblandhalle — the multi-purpose hall at the entrance to the village, where the catering, tents, and stages are set up. In 2026, it will be the 46th Dorffest, held from September 5 to 7. The organizers are the IG Eimeldingen, the Guggemusik Rebland Fetzer e.V., and the Evangelische Kirchengemeinde (Protestant Church Community) — the three pillars of village life.
Barrel Tapping on Friday Evening
The opening takes place on Friday, September 5 at 6 PM: Mayor Oliver Friebolin taps the beer keg, officially opening the festival weekend. Afterwards, the clubs will provide catering with beer, regional Markgräfler wines, and sparkling wine — the Weinbrunnen (wine fountain) and the Sektbrunnen (sparkling wine fountain) are popular meeting points. The Guggemusik Rebland Fetzer will accompany the evening with traditional brass music in the Guggen style typical of southern Baden.
Saturday — Festival Day and Sociability
Saturday is the main festival day: catering tents and pavilions open from the morning, and in the evening, bands and DJs play on stage. The festival tent can accommodate several hundred guests; the weather in September in the Rebland is usually mild — so many seats are available outside around the Reblandhalle. Specialties from the local clubs include: Markgräfler Bratwurst, Käsplätzchen, Wähen (savory or sweet tarts), Maultaschen (Swabian ravioli), and Pfälzer Saumagen (Pfalz-style stuffed pig's stomach).
Sunday — Family Day with Children's Program
Sunday is dedicated to families: bouncy castle, wheel of fortune, children's tattoos, candy stand, book stand. The children's program traditionally starts in the morning; around noon, the Eimeldingen music clubs perform. The festival Sunday ends with the traditional dismantling in the late afternoon.
Eimeldingen — South of Lörrach, in the Dreiländereck
Eimeldingen (around 2,500 inhabitants, Lörrach district, postal code 08336) is located in the southern Markgräflerland directly on the Swiss border — just a few kilometers from Basel. The municipality belongs to the traditional Rebland (viticulture region on the foothills) and is known for its Markgräfler wines and its intact village community. The Dorffest is the most important social event of the year — a place where the entire village comes together and guests from Lörrach, Weil am Rhein, and nearby Switzerland celebrate along.
