Visibility for Lesbians*
The Dyke* March is an international tradition that originated in the USA in the 1980s and has been gaining importance in Germany since the 2010s. Hamburg has been holding its Dyke* March annually since 2016 on the eve of the large CSD demonstration — as an independent, lesbian*-centered response to the often gay-dominated main CSD demo.
Inclusive and Politically Clear
The organizers formulate their approach as follows: "Lesbians* of all orientations, age groups, nationalities, and hair lengths" are invited. This explicitly includes:
- BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)
- Trans-Femmes and Trans-Mascs
- Bisexual, pansexual, and asexual people
- Inter* and non-binary people
- Allies of all genders who support the movement
11th Edition 2026 — Hamburg Pride Week
In 2026, the Dyke* March will take place on Friday, July 31st — embedded in Hamburg Pride Week (July 25 – August 2, 2026) and on the eve of the main CSD demo on August 1st. The exact demonstration route will be announced by the organizers in the weeks before the event, traditionally through the districts of Hamburg-Mitte and St. Georg.
Organizing Structure
The organization team works under the umbrella of Intervention e.V., Glashüttenstraße 2 in Hamburg-Sternschanze. The Dyke* March is financially supported by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and the district office of Hamburg-Mitte. The organizing team is continuously looking for FLINTA* volunteers for preparation and execution.
In the District of Hamburg-Mitte
The demonstration traditionally leads through the central Hamburg districts — Mitte and St. Georg — and typically ends with a closing rally. The Dyke* March is a demonstration, not a festival with a stage program: political statement, visibility, and community care are the focus.
