International Convention for Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror at silent green Kulturquartier
MetropolCon Berlin was founded in 2023 as Germany's answer to the need for a major international genre convention in Central Europe. It sees itself as a meeting point for the fantastic community: authors, readers, translators, publishers, academics, game designers, cosplayers. In 2026, MetropolCon will also bear the title EuroCon – the annual traveling convention of the European Science Fiction Society (ESFS), attracting participants from across the continent.
The venue is the silent green Kulturquartier at Gerichtstraße 35 in Berlin-Wedding (Mitte district) – a 19th-century former crematorium, now a cultural center with a concert hall, dome room, studios, and several event spaces. A perfect backdrop for a festival that bridges science, fantasy, and art.
Four guests of honour will shape the 2026 convention: German SF author Aiki Mira, American bestselling author Becky Chambers (Wayfarers series), Croatian comic artist couple Stjepan & Linda Šejić (Sunstone, Punderworld), and German fantasy author Bernhard Hennen (Die Elfen). In addition, a variety of German and international genre authors will be featured.
MetropolCon 2026 will also be the annual convention of the SFCD (Science Fiction Club Deutschland). During the festival, the ESFS Awards will be presented – the most important European awards for fantastic literature, comics, arts, and translations. The program languages will be primarily English (as the EuroCon language) and German.
MetropolCon Berlin 2026 will take place from July 2nd to 5th, 2026, at the silent green Kulturquartier (Gerichtstraße 35, 13347 Berlin, Mitte district / Wedding locality). In 2026, it is also the official EuroCon 2026 – the annual convention of the European Science Fiction Society – as well as the SFCD Annual Convention of the Science Fiction Club Deutschland.
The main program language will be English, supplemented by German-language program items. The organizer is MetropolCon e.V. Tickets and memberships are available via metropolcon.eu.
The complete program and all participants will be published shortly before the convention on metropolcon.eu.
Day tickets, weekend passes, and membership packages (Supporting / Attending Membership) are available via the ticket page metropolcon.eu. Specific rates for EuroCon 2026, including discounts for SFCD and ESFS members, will be published on the website.
Take the U-Bahn line U6 to Wedding station (approx. 5 minutes walk) or S-Bahn lines S1, S2, S25 / S41, S42 to Wedding / Gesundbrunnen. By bus 247 or 327 to Gerichtstraße. From the main station (Hauptbahnhof), take the U6 for about 12 minutes.
Day tickets, weekend passes, and membership packages (Supporting/Attending Membership) are available via metropolcon.eu. Early bird rates and student discounts are usually offered.
To fully experience the festival, plan for several days: the program starts on Thursday, and the awards ceremony concludes on Sunday. The cosplay program is particularly strong on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant and café at silent green are often overcrowded during the convention – snacks and cold drinks are readily available in the surrounding Wedding area.
