Overview

MetropolCon 2025 took place in July at the silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin-Wedding. Over several days, the convention brought together authors, fans, translators, and publishers focused on Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror. The program featured cosplay, panels, readings, workshops, and awards ceremonies. MetropolCon thus established itself as a significant event in the German-speaking genre scene.

MetropolCon 2025 confirmed the Berlin convention's position as the most important platform for fantastic literature and genre culture in the German-speaking world. The venue was once again the silent green Kulturquartier at Gerichtstraße 35 in Berlin-Wedding – a former crematorium converted into a cultural center.

For several days, genre authors, fans, translators, and publishing professionals traveled from Germany and several European countries. Panels discussed current trends in Science Fiction and Fantasy, readings presented new books, and workshops offered practical skills for writers. Cosplay competitions, gaming sessions, and a publisher and dealer area rounded off the program.

The organizer remained MetropolCon e.V. The 2025 edition laid the groundwork for the spectacular EuroCon 2026, in which MetropolCon will significantly expand its international reach – with Aiki Mira, Becky Chambers, Stjepan & Linda Šejić, and Bernhard Hennen as guests of honour and the ESFS awards ceremony in Berlin.
