Four-day funfair in Dülmen city centre from May 29 to June 1, 2026 — on the weekend after Pentecost — with Sunday shopping
The Dreifaltigkeitskirmes in Dülmen is one of the traditional funfairs in the Münsterland region. The name refers to the Catholic Trinity Festival (Trinitatis), which is celebrated annually on the Sunday after Pentecost. The funfair therefore moves with the date of Pentecost and falls on the weekend of May 29 to June 1 in 2026. Even though the religious component has faded into the background today, the name shapes the identity of this Westphalian funfair tradition.
Four days of festivities in Dülmen city centre:
The highlight of the funfair days is the Sunday shopping on May 31, 2026. Dülmen retailers will open their shops on Sunday afternoon (usually 1:00 PM–6:00 PM) alongside the funfair. Early summer promotions, outdoor and sports fashion, boutiques, bookstores, and home furnishing stores use the date for special offers. The combination of funfair + shopping makes Sunday the main visitor day of the entire funfair.
The Dülmen Dreifaltigkeitskirmes is a medium-sized funfair with a classic range of attractions:
The scale is family-friendly — unlike the XL funfairs in Dortmund/Essen, the crowds are manageable, and the funfair grounds can be explored well in 1–2 hours.
Dülmen is located in the Coesfeld district, in the southern Münsterland region, about 30 kilometers southwest of Münster. With around 47,000 inhabitants, Dülmen is a medium-sized town with a special profile: The town is famous for the Dülmen wild horses, a semi-wild herd of horses in the Merfelder Bruch that has lived there for centuries — a unique zoological tradition. Dülmen is also home to Dülmen Marketing, an active city marketing initiative that has a very broad event calendar for 2026: Spring Market (March 21/22), Wine Festival (June 3–6), Dülmen Beach (June 19–July 29), Potato Market (September 13), Dülmener Winter (November 13, 2026 – January 3, 2027).
The Dreifaltigkeitskirmes Sunday (May 31) is one of five Sundays with shopping in Dülmen in 2026 — along with the Spring Market in March, the Potato Market in September, and the winter Sundays in November/December. Those who shop in the Münsterland can truly experience the Dülmen event year.

The day can be perfectly complemented by a visit to the Dülmen wild horses in the Merfelder Bruch (15 min by car).
In 2026, the city of Dülmen will host its traditional Dreifaltigkeitskirmes on the weekend after Pentecost. Four days of festivities in the city centre with a classic medium-sized funfair — bumper cars, carousels, high rides, family area, and extensive food and catering facilities.
