Sociable summer festival in the heart of the Saar community
Kleinblittersdorf is located in the southernmost part of Saarland, directly on the River Saar and on the border with France. This location precisely shapes the Dorffest ums Rathaus: a German-French audience, a relaxed atmosphere, and the feeling of celebrating in the heart of Europe. In mid-August, local clubs set up their stalls around the town hall, and for two days, the square becomes the community's meeting place.
The Dorffest 2026 will take place on Friday, August 14th, and Saturday, August 15th. The exact schedule will be published shortly before the date on the municipal website as usual – traditionally, the festival begins on Friday evening with the official opening by the mayor.
Unlike the major city festivals in the state capital Saarbrücken, the Dorffest remains small, manageable, and close to the audience. It typically offers:
The Kleinblittersdorf town hall is centrally located in the village center, just a few minutes from the River Saar and the train station. Those who wish to stay longer can combine their visit with a bike tour along the Saar Cycle Path or take a detour to Auersmacher and Sitterswald – both districts that organize their own annual village festivals.
The Dorffest ums Rathaus is not a tourist magnet like the Saarspektakel, but a true community festival: supported by clubs, residents, and families from the Saarbrücken regional association as well as from neighboring France. This is precisely what makes it charming – if you want to get to know the everyday Saarland, this is the place to be.
As every year, the area around the Kleinblittersdorf town hall will become a festival mile in mid-August. The Dorffest 2026 will take place on Friday, August 14th, and Saturday, August 15th – free admission. The final schedule and band selection will traditionally be announced by the municipal administration a few weeks before the date.
Local clubs are expected again with food and drink stalls, a main stage with cover bands and brass music, and a children's area.
The detailed program will likely be published in early August 2026 on the website of the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf. As a rule, the festival starts on Friday evening around 6 p.m. with the official opening at the Rathausplatz, followed by live music on the main stage.
Club activities around the town hall during the day, live music until late at night. For families, a bouncy castle, face painting, and small game stations are traditionally set up.
Note: Program subject to change. For current information, contact the municipality of Kleinblittersdorf directly, Tel. 06805 2008-108.
Free admission. Payment at the club stalls is usually cash only.
By car via the A6 (exit Saarbrücken-Süd) and the L105 to Kleinblittersdorf. By Saarbahn line S1 from Saarbrücken main station directly to the Kleinblittersdorf Bahnhof stop, then a five-minute walk to the town hall.
Free parking is available around the train station and along Saarbrücker Straße. On festival days, it's best to arrive early or use the Saarbahn.
Hotels and guesthouses can be found in Saarbrücken (approx. 12 km north) and in Sarreguemines (approx. 4 km south, France). Both cities are accessible by Saarbahn.
Bring cash – many club stalls do not accept card payments. To fully enjoy the German-French flair, combine your festival visit with lunch on the French side of the border.
