In 2026, the Dorffest Elstertrebnitz will look back on 37 editions. The festival is a firm fixture in the small community's summer calendar, traditionally bringing together all residents and their guests around the sports hall. With long-standing traditions from clubs, live music, dancing, and gastronomy, it is a typical Saxon village festival – without commercial embellishments, driven by the commitment of the village community.

For years, the festival has traditionally taken place on the last weekend of August – a date that ceremoniously concludes the summer in the municipality of Elstertrebnitz before school and autumn begin. The 36th edition in 2025 ran from August 29th to 31st; the 37th edition in 2026 is announced for the end of August.
In the Leipzig district, state of Saxony
Elstertrebnitz is located in the Leipzig district (AGS 14729), state of Saxony, about 30 km south of Leipzig in the Leipziger Neuseenland. The municipality, with just under 1,200 inhabitants, is nestled in a landscape that has become one of Europe's largest artificial lake districts through the renaturation of former open-cast lignite mines.
