The 2026 edition runs from July 23rd to 25th on the Metalnachtplatz. 16 bands from Heavy, Thrash, Power, Black, and Pagan Metal are confirmed, led by Graveworm and Ill Disposed.

Three days of open-air metal with camping included. The bands are set, the lineup is underground-oriented with a few international stars like Graveworm (Italy, Black/Death Metal) and Ill Disposed (Denmark, Death Metal). From Germany come Obscurity, Rise of Kronos, and Bloody Invasion. Catering, camping, and the bar are run by the organizing association itself.

By car via the A36 / B6, exit Blankenburg, then direction Heimburg/Benzingerode. Signposting on site. Train: Wernigerode or Halberstadt, then shuttle or taxi.

Between the Harz villages of Heimburg and Benzingerode (districts of the town Blankenburg in the Harz district) lies a patch of meadow that transforms into a Metalnachtplatz once a year. What began as a small club concert has now become a three-day festival that accurately covers the Heavy, Thrash, Power, Black, and Pagan Metal scene between Hanover, Leipzig, and Berlin. Born from a genuine passion for hard music, supported by an association that handles booking, setup, and catering entirely themselves.

Here you'll experience a festival that has retained its honesty: camping included, no frills, just fries, draft beer, campfire atmosphere, and bands you usually only see in clubs. The state of Saxony-Anhalt has one of the largest metal festivals in Central Germany with the Rockharz Open Air in Aschersleben – the Heimburger Metalnacht is its more intimate, harder underground cousin. Enough space for mosh pits, small enough for personal encounters with the bands.
