A Stage with a Historic Backdrop

The Doberaner Kulturbühne was launched in 2023 and uses the historic Kamp in the centre of Bad Doberan as an atmospheric venue. In the 19th century, the Kamp was the social centre of the grand ducal summer residence, where spa guests of the Baltic Sea resort Heiligendamm-Doberan met. Today, it hosts the Doberaner Kulturbühne as a modern open-air format.

Summer Event Calendar

From June to August, several events take place monthly: concerts by regional and national bands, theatre performances, cabaret, comedy, children's programmes, and family formats. The exact dates are published annually in spring by the town of Bad Doberan and the Bad Doberan-Heiligendamm Tourist Information.

Part of a Rich Summer Programme

The Kulturbühne complements Bad Doberan's other summer open-air formats – including the "Sommer Klassik Open Air" against the backdrop of the Doberan Minster with grand opera, the "Kleines S.O.F.A. Open Air" with live music and sofa talks (20.06.2026), and the "Geistliche Abendmusiken" (Sacred Evening Music) at the Minster. Thus, the Kulturbühne forms one of the core building blocks of the Doberan cultural summer.

Regional Context

Bad Doberan is located in the Rostock district (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). With the Doberan Minster, the monastery complex, the Kamp, and the Molli narrow-gauge railway connection to the Baltic Sea resort of Heiligendamm, the town offers an unusually dense cultural-historical infrastructure. The Kulturbühne uses this setting for a new, accessible open-air event format.
