Garden Fair in the Baroque Garden
The DIGA Garden Fair Aldersbach uses an extraordinary setting: the baroque monastery garden of the former Cistercian abbey of Aldersbach in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau. The combination of the historic site and the modern garden fair attracts around 7,000 visitors to Lower Bavaria every year.
Around 60 Exhibitors
Around 60 exhibitors from Bavaria, Germany, and Europe present a wide range of products at the fair:
- Plants: Orchids, hydrangeas, water plants, Mediterranean plants, perennials, shrubs
- Garden furniture and accessories: Lounge furniture, sculptures, fountains, hammocks, gazebos
- Decorations: Ceramics, glass, wrought iron, wooden figures
- Culinary delights: regional specialties, wines, jams, herbs
- Lifestyle and living: current trends for home and garden
Aldersbach Monastery Ensemble
Aldersbach Monastery was founded in the 12th century as a Cistercian abbey; the current baroque building dates from the 18th century. The Asam Church inside is considered one of the most important works of the Asam brothers in Bavaria. The brewery of the von Aretin family produces the well-known Aldersbacher beer on the monastery grounds. The monastery garden is also part of the complex and forms the ideal setting for the garden fair.
Lower Bavaria and the Passau District
Aldersbach is located in the Passau district in the administrative region of Lower Bavaria, about 30 km northwest of Passau. The municipality is easily accessible by car and coach – a plus point for a day event like the DIGA.
DIGA Aldersbach — edition 2026
The organizer SüMa Maier Veranstaltungs GmbH expects around 7,000 visitors, as in previous years. The range of products at the 14th edition includes orchids, hydrangeas, water plants, garden furniture, fountains, sculptures, herbs, and wine – complemented by current trends in garden, home, and lifestyle.
The combination of the historic monastery complex and the modern garden fair remains the hallmark of the event in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau.
Programme DIGA Aldersbach 2026
Day 1 — Friday, August 21, 2026 (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- 10:00 AM: Garden Fair Opens
- All Day: Around 60 exhibitors in the baroque monastery garden
- Consultations with nurseries and landscape designers
- Culinary stands in the outdoor area
Day 2 — Saturday, August 22, 2026 (10:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Full day of operation with all exhibitors
- Display boards and small demonstrations on plant care and garden design
- Children under 14 accompanied by adults are free
Day 3 — Sunday, August 23, 2026 (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Shortened opening day
- Last day for purchasing plants and furniture directly on site
- Family program and catering
