Stadium Pop with a Time Machine

Die 80er Live is the most spectacular retro pop event of the Hamburg summer 2026. The Volksparkstadion in the Stellingen district — home of HSV with over 57,000 seats — will be transformed into a time machine for one evening. The organizers themselves put it: "the biggest 80s party in the North", a "party time travel experience" through the commercially defining pop decade.

Five Headliners from the Pop Pantheon

The lineup brings together five internationally established megastars of the 1980s:

• Boy George — frontman of Culture Club, voice of Karma Chameleon and Do You Really Want to Hurt Me
• Holly Johnson — frontman of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, icon of Relax and The Power of Love
• Alphaville — the German synth-pop legend with Big in Japan, Forever Young, and Sounds Like a Melody
• Kim Wilde — British pop star with Kids in America, You Came, Cambodia
• Samantha Fox — pop starlet of the late eighties with Touch Me (I Want Your Body)

Additional acts will be confirmed in spring 2026, according to the organizers.

Volksparkstadion — Concert Venue for 50,000

The Volksparkstadion is one of Northern Germany's best open-air concert venues. With nearly 50,000 concert seats, excellent acoustics, and the special summer atmosphere of a stadium in a park, Sylvesterallee 7 offers a setting that can cover the entire spectrum of large concerts, from pure stage production and pyrotechnics to catering.

Part of the 2026 Concert Summer

Die 80er Live is part of the Volksparkstadion's 2026 Concert Summer, organized by HSV in collaboration with marketing partner Sportfive. Several major stadium concerts are spread throughout the summer of 2026; Die 80er Live on July 18 is one of the three big summer evenings.

Who is this for?

The concept clearly targets a generation that grew up with the 80s — birth years 1955 to 1975 as the core group, plus younger nostalgics, plus second-generation 80s fans. Anyone who still listens to synth-pop and British New Wave on vinyl will find their evening here.
