Fun Run in the Bayreuth Region

The Kurier Firmenlauf is the largest fun run event in the Bayreuth district (Upper Franconia, Bavaria). The organizer is the Nordbayerischer Kurier, a daily newspaper published in Bayreuth with a long tradition in the region. In 2026, the sixth edition will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, in the Weidenberg districts of Glotzdorf and Stockau, as well as around the neighboring Neunkirchen am Main.

70 Years of Landjugend Stockau-Lehen

The 2026 edition coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Landjugend Stockau-Lehen, which is both co-organizer and host. The Landjugend organizes the course, catering, and the subsequent celebration with the traditional Miss Kerwa election. The combination of the company run and the rural youth Kerwa makes the Kurier Firmenlauf a unique blend of sport and Franconian tradition.

Course and Format

The course is about 2.5 kilometers long and is run twice – a total of about 5 kilometers. It runs on largely flat, paved paths around Neunkirchen am Main, Glotzdorf, and Stockau; a short, approx. 250-meter section is unpaved. The run is suitable for all fitness levels, from ambitious hobby runners to beginners from the company teams. In 2025, over 800 starters competed.

Two Starting Waves and Registration

The competition starts in two waves: the first starting wave at 5:00 PM, the second at 5:45 PM. Registration via the Davengo platform, registration deadline is Wednesday, July 15, 2026, 11:59 PM. The participation fee starts at 8 Euros Early Bird (until March 31, 2026), increases gradually to 12 Euros (until July 7), 15 Euros (until July 14), and 20 Euros (on July 15). The starting fee includes access to the subsequent celebration with the Miss Kerwa election.

Post-Run Celebration with Miss Kerwa Election

After the run, a traditional rural youth celebration awaits. The highlight is the Miss Kerwa election, a custom of the Upper Franconian rural youth, where the Miss Kerwa of the year is crowned. The election is celebrated with live music, Franconian catering, and joint festivities until the early hours of the morning. The Kurier Firmenlauf is therefore not only a sporting event but also a social highlight of the Bayreuth summer.
