In 2026, the event is divided into two phases — the main market on the 1st Advent weekend, November 27–29, on the church square of St. Johannis Church, followed by an extended market until December 30 with a reduced number of stalls.

Main Market — Three Days of Advent Spirit

The 1st Advent weekend forms the core of the event. The St. Johannis Church and its church square are transformed into an Advent world with thousands of lights. Program:

• Illuminated church square with fairy lights in the trees and on the house walls
• Handicraft stalls with gift ideas from the Mindener Land
• Culinary delights: mulled wine, candied almonds, potato pancakes, bratwurst
• Club stalls with homemade goods for charitable purposes
• Small music program with local Rahden musicians

Torchlight Procession — Tradition for the First Advent

A special tradition of the Dezemberträume is the torchlight procession through Rahden — a procession with youth fire brigades, local musicians, and Christmas characters, symbolically marking the start of Advent. The 2025 edition staged this tradition particularly impressively; the repetition in 2026 has been announced.

Extended Market until December 30

A special feature of the Dezemberträume Rahden is the second phase: After the main market on the 1st Advent, a reduced market version continues until the end of December. This allows the last weeks before Christmas and the days between Christmas and New Year to be enjoyed in an Advent atmosphere — a concept that sets the market apart from many short-lived weekend markets.
