A Wine Festival on the Edge of the Badisch-Fränkische Wine Region

Dertingen is one of Wertheim's wine-growing districts, located on the southern edge of the Main-Tauber district. This is where the border between Baden and Franconian wine cultivation runs — a small, characterful wine region with old vineyards on the Mandelberg and the interplay of two wine cultures. The Dertinger Weinfest celebrates this connection year after year around the May bank holiday weekend and is one of the established spring wine festivals in the region. In 2026, the festival runs from April 30th to May 3rd.

Four Days in the Marquee — From Dance into May to Family Sunday

The marquee is located right next to the Mandelberg-Halle in Dertingen. The opening on Thursday, April 30th, features the traditional Dance into May with the DreiMannBand — free entry. On Friday, May 1st, the Dertingen music band and the F.U.C.K.-Band will play. On Saturday, May 2nd, the children's afternoon is a major focus, followed by Die Aalbachtaler in the evening. Sunday, May 3rd, brings a celebratory church service in the marquee, a wine hike through the vineyards, and music with the Waldbrunner Musikanten and Die Lieblers. Four days, five bands, an early morning pint, a children's afternoon — a classic German club wine festival with a high profile in the Main-Tauber area.

New Wine Lounge and Spritz Bar in 2026

For 2026, the festival's outdoor area has been completely redesigned. A modernized wine lounge, a new spritz bar with exclusive aperitif cocktails, and lounge seating under trees and sunshades invite visitors to linger. The renovation aims to complement the traditional marquee atmosphere with a contemporary outdoor space — especially for younger guests and wine connoisseurs.

Wines of the Badisch-Fränkische Region

The focus is on the wines of the Badisch-Fränkische wine region: dry whites from Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, and Bacchus, robust reds from Spätburgunder, Schwarzriesling, and Tauberschwarz, as well as regional cuvées. Local winemakers serve directly, and wineries from the surrounding Tauber communities are also present. Classic marquee food complements the culinary offerings.

Dertingen is located on the southern edge of the Wertheim municipal area, nestled between the Tauber and Main valleys. Wertheim, with its castle, medieval old town at the confluence of the Main and Tauber rivers, and its regional importance as a wine town, is one of the most attractive destinations in Tauberfranken.
