Marquee Event for Father's Day in the Rhön
Sandberg is a municipality in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld, at the foot of the Kreuzberg – the "Holy Mountain of the Franks". The marquee event "Der Berg ruft" takes place around Ascension Day (Father's Day) and spans five festival days from Wednesday to Sunday. It is one of the major marquee events in the Rhön region.
A Festival Community from Three Associations
The festival is supported by a community of three local associations: the Sandberg Volunteer Fire Department, the Sandberg Musicians, and 1. FC Sandberg. This association-based support is typical of Franconian festival culture, where fire departments, music, and sports clubs jointly organize major festivals, thus shaping village life.
Five Festival Days with Live Music
The program extends over five days with daily changing music offerings: party bands playing current charts and pop/rock/hip-hop classics, Italian live music performed amidst the audience, 1970s/80s rock and pop, Bohemian brass music during the "Senner Wies'n" hosted by the Sandberg Musicians, and a DJ night. On Wednesday (doors open 8:00 PM, start 9:00 PM), Die Muckasäck will kick things off with current charts and pop/rock/hip-hop classics. Thursday from 1:30 PM will feature Die Rossinis (Italian live music amidst the audience) and from 5:00 PM, Hot Oven & the Briketts playing 70s/80s rock and pop.
On Friday from 7:00 PM, the Sandberg Musicians will host the "Senner Wies'n" with Bohemian brass music. Saturday (doors open 8:00 PM, start 9:00 PM) is dedicated to DJ Max Delight. Sunday, starting at 11:30 AM, is Family Day with free admission and three musical acts throughout the day.
